On November 17–23, 2025, Penn State University will host Global Entrepreneurship Week, managed by the Penn State Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
On November 20th at 12pm noon, Center Staff Attorney Jackie Schweichler will present a session on legal considerations for agritourism businesses. This presentation will be part of the session, “Cultivating Opportunity: A Practical Guide to Starting and Managing Agritourism Operations.”
As interest in local food, rural experiences, and sustainable agriculture continues to grow, agritourism offers farmers and landowners a unique opportunity to diversify income and connect with the public.
This session provides a comprehensive overview of what it takes to plan, launch, and manage a successful agritourism enterprise—from farm markets and events to tours and experiences. Participants will explore key operational, financial, personnel, and marketing considerations, as well as the regulatory and legal frameworks that govern agritourism ventures.
Whether you’re just beginning to explore the possibilities or looking to refine an existing operation, this session will offer actionable insights and real-world guidance to help you navigate the path forward.
