On Friday, November 21, 2025, from 12 noon–1:00 pm ET, the Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law, alongside the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s (PDA) Agricultural Business Development Center (ABDC), will present the next webinar in the Understanding Agricultural Law Educational Series, a course designed to develop subject matter literacy and competence on fundamental issues of agricultural law for attorneys and business advisors who work with or represent agricultural or rural clients but may not necessarily specialize in agricultural law:
“Understanding the Basics of Cell-Cultured Foods & Labeling Laws”
In recent years, cell-cultured foods have advanced from research and development to market approval, resulting in U.S. authorization of the first cell-cultured products for human consumption.
This webinar will provide an overview of cell-cultured foods, including their underlying science, how cell-cultured products differ from other meat alternatives, and their current U.S. regulatory framework and the respective roles of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
This program will also explore labeling issues surrounding cell-cultured foods, including their proper description, recent state initiatives to regulate labeling or the technology itself, and ongoing litigation.
1 hour of substantive CLE credit available for Pennsylvania-licensed attorneys at no charge.
