On June 2, 2022, Brook Duer joined the Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture for a presentation on farm infrastructure. The presentation, Sustaining Farm Infrastructure: Financial Management and Taxes, Lending, Regulations and Zoning, was held virtually on Zoom at 1:00pm.

Understanding the Basics of Agricultural Labor Laws
On April 29, 2022, from 12 noon – 1 pm ET, the Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law alongside the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Business Development Center launched our new educational series, “Understanding Agricultural Law.”
This first session in our series is entitled, “Understanding the Basics of Agricultural Labor Laws.” Every area of labor and employment law seems to have its own unique rules for agricultural workers. Presenters discussed the Fair Labor Standards Act, OSHA, child, migrant and seasonal labor laws, the H-2A program, and much more.
Penn State Presents Solar Law Symposium
On June 15 and 17, 2021, the Center for Agricultural and Shale Law joined the Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research, Penn State Dickinson Law, and Penn State Extension in sponsoring the Penn State Solar Law Symposium.
The symposium was geared for both beginning and intermediate levels of knowledge about photovoltaic electrical generation for the grid and was designed in a progressive manner, each session building upon the knowledge gained in the last. Brook Duer Gives Presentation on Solar Leasing for Penn State Extension
On May 19, 2021, staff attorney Brook Duer gave a presentation entitled, Leasing for Solar Development. The event was hosted by Penn State Extension and covered siting considerations, the impetus behind solar development, and terms to accept or sidestep in a solar lease. In this webinar, Brook was joined by Extension Educators, Dan Brockett and Jonathan Laughner.
