It has been another busy year for the staff of the Center for Agricultural and Shale Law at Penn State Law. As our name suggests, we have prepared a range of research and educational work products on agricultural and shale law issues. Our work has focused on each of these two fields separately as well as on topics at the intersection between agriculture and shale development. In our home state of Pennsylvania, agriculture has long been a driving force for the state’s economy with a particular impact on our rural communities. Similarly, within the past decade, shale development, occurring on agricultural and rural lands, has revitalized economic development within many rural communities as well as the state generally.
The impacts of agriculture and shale development are not unique to Pennsylvania as these are two of the biggest issues affecting rural America. Our work has educated the varied stakeholders interested in these related topics including agricultural producers, landowners, mineral interest and royalty owners, business professionals, judges, attorneys, legislators, government officials, community groups, and the general public.
In this newsletter, we provide you with additional information about our work over the past year. Thanks for your interest!
