Agritourism refers to on-farm activities that attract visitors for recreation, education, or entertainment—such as farm tours, U-pick operations, corn mazes, and winery tastings. While these activities can diversify farm income and strengthen rural economies, they also introduce risks of visitor injuries and related lawsuits. Liability protection is therefore crucial for operators to manage risk and sustain their businesses.
To address this need, some states have passed agritourism laws, providing definitions for agritourism, liability protections, and signage requirements. This Virtual Resource Room provides a compilation of agritourism laws and case law by state, as well as related publications.
This guide is intended to represent a collection of legal resources relating to geographical indications.
