On Friday, May 30, 2025, from 12 noon–1:00 ET, the Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law, alongside the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s (PDA) Agricultural Business Development Center (ABDC), will present the next webinar in the Understanding Agricultural Law Educational Series:

“Understanding the Basics of the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act”

The Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act of 1983 (MSPA), 29 U.S.C. §§ 1801–72, functions as the primary federal agricultural labor statute and establishes standards regarding wages, working arrangements, disclosure, recordkeeping, housing, and transportation provided by employers and/or farm labor contractors employing workers in seasonal or temporary agricultural employment.

This webinar will provide an overview of the MSPA and discuss employee rights and employer and farm labor contractor responsibilities under the law, including exemptions and legal issues arising from joint employment under MSPA.
