- Recording: Understanding the Basics of Right to Repair Laws
On Friday, October 25, 2024, from 12 noon–1:00 ET, the Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law, alongside the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s (PDA) Agricultural Business Development Center (ABDC), will present the next webinar in the Understanding Agricultural Law educational series:
“Understanding the Basics of Right to Repair Laws.”
The nationwide movement to enact Right to Repair statutes seeks to ensure that consumers and end-users have the ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs on various technology-laden products, including agricultural equipment and machinery. Throughout the past few years, several states have enacted legislation imposing requirements on manufacturers to make certain information and tools available to consumers. While these statutes are similar in purpose, they differ in their approach and scope of coverage.
This webinar will provide a broad overview of the Right to Repair topic and discuss enacted state legislation with a specific emphasis on important provisions for the agricultural community. We also will discuss other legal developments impacting the Right to Repair in agriculture including litigation, evolving industry standards, and the use of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) that aim to provide farmers with access to information and diagnostic tools.
1 hour of substantive CLE credit available for Pennsylvania-licensed attorneys at no charge.
