On Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 10:30am–1:30pm, the PA Agricultural Ombudsman Program, in collaboration with the the Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law and Pysher & Associates, Inc., will present “ACRE Law 101: Agriculture, Stormwater, and Local Regulations with PA Agricultural Ombudsman Program” with guest speaker Robert Willig, Senior Deputy Attorney General for the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, joined by Brook Duer, Center Staff Attorney.
The main purpose of ACRE is to protect Pennsylvania’s “normal agricultural operators from unauthorized local regulation.” Under ACRE, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General (OAG) is empowered to: 1) review local ordinances to determine conflicts with state law and 2) to bring legal action against local government units for unauthorized local regulations that prohibit or limit normal agricultural operations.
This webinar will provide a general overview of Pennsylvania’s ACRE law, review the ordinance process by the PA Office of the Attorney General, and discuss the PA statutory stormwater management plan high tunnel exemption. Lunch will be provided.
