FREE, In-person event in Hollidaysburg, PA!

On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 9:00am–1:00pm, the PA Agricultural Ombudsman Program, in collaboration with the the Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law, Penn State Extension, and the Blair County Conservation District, will present “ACRE Law 101: Agriculture, Local Regulations, and Nutrient Management” at the Liberty Room in the US Hotel Tavern in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. Guest speakers will be Robert Willig, Senior Deputy Attorney General for the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, and Robb Meinen, Assistant Research Professor with Penn State Extension, joined by Brook Duer, Center Staff Attorney.

The main purpose of ACRE is to protect Pennsylvania’s “normal agricultural operators from unauthorized local regulation.” Under ACRE, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General (OAG) is empowered to: 1) review local ordinances to determine conflicts with state law and 2) to bring legal action against local government units for unauthorized local regulations that prohibit or limit normal agricultural operations.

This webinar will provide a general overview of Pennsylvania’s ACRE law, review the ordinance process by the PA Office of the Attorney General, and discuss policies for agriculture-related nutrient application and manure storage. Lunch will be provided.

Substantive CLE credits available for Pennsylvania-licensed attorneys at no cost to attendees.

PDH Engineering & Nutrient Management educational credits also available.

Registration deadline is February 29, 2024.
