On February 25–26, 2026, the Virginia Vineyards Association will hold its 2026 Winter Technical Meeting and Tradeshow at the Shenandoah Valley Conference Center at Hotel Madison in Harrisonburg, Virginia.Â
During the meeting, staff attorney Audry Thompson will present “Immigration and Farm Workers: Employer Rights and Responsibilities.” Â
Increased immigration enforcement under the current administration has become a topic of concern for agricultural employers as recent enforcement activities have begun to target farms, production plants, and meatpacking facilities. This presentation will cover employer responsibilities in hiring, such as I-9 form verification, and employer rights in the event of workplace investigative enforcement, or “ICE raid,” including the definition of a “search” and how to identify administrative vs. judicial warrants.   Â
